Xooang Choi’s Sculptures

Xooang Choi, a Korean artist, is known for his hyper-realistic portrayal of human anatomy. These perfectly sculpted hands (amazing colour and texture) all join in a puzzle like manner to create an outstretched wing. The amazing detail and accuracy of the hands, all combined in this manner, are a visual treat which is beautiful, but at the same time grotesque. The chilling way that the hands are bolted to the metal, reminds me of horrors seen in Hannibal and Saw. But then their beautiful shape transports me back to images of nature and is reminiscent of the ancient art of hand shadows. I was instantly inspired to try and strengthen my own skills when sculpting fingers, as this piece is just breathtaking.
