Stick study

I decided to carry out an analysis of sticks, twigs and branches in order to understand their individual characteristics more thoroughly as I felt this could compliment and develop my creative designs in the future.Through my drawings I began to observe more keenly the knots, ridges, sharp angles, slow curves and the crumbly cracked patterns of the bark compared to the smooth swirls of the soft periderm. This was a very insightful and useful exercise which forced me to home in on specific features and which encouraged me to practise my sketching skills.
