Hand Study

Spurred on by Kate Macdowell’s work I decided to carry out a study of my hands by producing some still life sketches. My hands may not be the most elegant for a study, but they are certainly the most accessible! I enjoyed the challenge of trying to produce anatomically correct hands whilst still maintaining my own drawing style. This encouraged me to look at my hands with new eyes, imagining how the creases and folds could be brought to life and emphasised in clay form. From here , the next steps I would like to take will be to combine my research into hands and sticks to produce some innovative designs rather  Macdowellesque in appearance.
