Embroidery and Sewing

I have been experimenting with textiles again recently, as I really enjoyed using the medium in the Moroccan project last year. Embroidery is a skill I would love to be advanced in, so a lot of practice is needed. I also love the idea of creating everlasting flowers and was strongly influenced by the flowery interior designs in Morocco. I have as a result started creating soft, fabric plants, an idea influenced by some pieces I saw in Glastonbury. Displayed below is a fabric aloe vera I created, using textiles and wire.I like the facade created and how it imitates a domesticated plant, appearing proud and strong, but which ultimately contains no life. This presents the viewer with an interesting dichotomy. Although my work in textiles is quite a contrast to my wood and clay pieces, I enjoy the variety of working in a range of medium to create beautiful and colourful works.
