Picking up the pieces

I haven’t done any subject work for a little while now and I’m not sure where I stand. It’s something that has been at the back of my mind but I haven’t had time to do.

Luckily all my other projects are now over so it is something I do have time to do, but how to begin.

I have been having somewhat of an art crisis recently. I have become vegetarian, something I’ve always believed in, and possibly even vegan. This leaves my art on a slippery slope. I want to rejoice animals and show how beautiful they are, but don’t want to use their bodies without permission. I think this is something that I’m going to have to think about and struggle out for myself. If I do continue with the taxidermy i want to make sure my resources are fully from simply finding, I don’t want to fuel any killing industries. This will be much harder to do as I will have to work my work around what and when I find something. Although I feel that this will give my work a touch of spontaneity and excitement. This will mean that I need to make contacts in order to find animals which I need to start doing.

Last term in my project I was looking into cubist pastel paintings in which the colours really influenced me. This term I want to look into animal beauty and magic, taking my work to a new level of meaning.
