moroccan spring flower

Gazania

for my Spring flower i have found Gazania. It is from the Asteraceae family and is native to Africa. They produce large, daisy like flowers that are in bright shades of yellow and orange that flourish over long periods of summer. They are often planted as ground coverage as they are drought tolerant.

I feel that this flower will be perfect to represent spring as it is bright, colourful and happy and filled with excitement for the coming months! i may need to buy some brighter wools for this piece but in my samples i will use my dull yellow and reds! For my final piece i may also get some yellow and pearl beads for the centre. I cant wait to begin stitching this tomorrow!
