Inspirations in Morocco

Before I went on the trip I knew that I wanted to try out embroidery, this meant I knew what I was looking for when I got there and guess what I found…

So many beautiful patterns! On our tour on the first day we were told that all Muslim decoration consist of nature and geometric shapes. Out of experience I then found that most patterns, to do with nature were painted on doors. I felt that this would be perfect for my project as I have a passion for plants and flowers and it is also a consistent theme in my work. I began snapshotting all of the great patterns around me.

All of these images will be hugely helpful in designing patterns for my embroidery. While I was there i tried to get a hold of some Moroccan thread to make my piece even more authentic but unfortunately it wasn’t possible, but I really can’t wait to get started, designs are on their way.
