Kate Clark creates these truly amazing taxidermy pieces that are full of emotion. She gives these coyotes (animals that are considered as pests) beautifully human emotions.
The human faces which are created using mixed media blend into the animal as if it were natural. The use of the human face makes us feel pity for the animal whilst also disgust at how naturally wrong (yet right) they look!
She positions the coyotes in a very realistic manor, making them look as if they could continue to move any second. I think viewers of taxidermy always feel pity for the animal but Clark truly accentuates this with the use of human faces.
She has also created a series using deers and human heads. I do not feel these are quite as effective as the coyotes as you cannot see the whole body, but I do feel it gives me a different approach on head mounts!!
