Afke Golsteijn and Floris Bakker

This wondrous piece of taxidermy is made of the hindquarters of a lion and amethyst rock.
This is one of my favourite taxidermy pieces and something I find very inspiring, I will definitely be taking a closer look at these artists work. To me the work signifies the beauty of the interior (personality) but also the beauty of nature and possibly shown as an anti game piece.
I find the use of the amethyst particularly strong, as it makes the whole sculpture completely natural rather than introducing man made materials again strengthening the beauty of nature theory.
I can’t wait to look at more of their work!!
